The El Segundo football team improved to 2-0 with a 62-6 win over Cantwell on Friday night. The Eagles, who put up 41 points in the first quarter, were in total control throughout the game on both offense and defense. Of their eight possessions they scored on seven of them. The other score was a fumble recovery in the end zone by junior linebacker Mark Binder.
Senior quarterback Jason Kehl was 6 of 7 for 129 yards with scoring passes to Taz Tauaese (21 yards), Landon Sharp (6 yards) and CJ Shevlin (55 Yards). Tauaese rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns on just six carries while Cameron Hayforth and Kyle Freeman each rushed for a touchdown for the Eagles.
Defensively the Eagles recorded six sacks, including two by Brandon Craig, and gave up just 104 yards of total offense to Cantwell, which dropped to 0-2.
El Segundo faces a tougher test on Friday, when it plays at 3-0 Bishop Montgomery.
